Before you fly
You will have your driver's name and a WhatsApp thread with us. Nothing about the arrival is left to be worked out on the day, and the price you agreed is the price. If your children need seats, tell us their ages at booking and the right baby or booster seat is fitted in the car before you land, free.

Passport control
This is usually the slowest part of arriving, and it is entirely outside anyone’s control. There is nothing to do here except join the queue. Your driver is not counting the minutes and there is nothing you need to send us.

Collect everything, including oversized items. Boards, buggies, golf bags and cots all come off separately from the main belt, so it is worth a second look before you head for the exit.

Walking out into arrivals
Here is the bit everyone has read the forum threads about. You will walk out into a busy hall and several people will offer you a taxi. You do not need to talk to any of them, and you do not need to be rude about it either. Your driver is standing in that hall holding a printed board with your name on it. Look for the board, not for a person. If you cannot see it within a minute or two, stop walking, open WhatsApp and message us, and we will tell you exactly where he is standing. That is a normal message to send and we get them every week.

The car
Modern, air conditioned, clean, and it is yours alone. Nobody else is sharing it, and the driver is not picking anyone else up on the way. He takes the bags. Your children’s seats are already fitted. There is bottled water.

The drive
175 km up the Atlantic coast, around 2h 15min, through the argan country north of Agadir. This is the most scenic of our long routes. We can stop at a women's argan cooperative on the way at no extra charge, and if the goats are in the argan trees that day you will want the driver to pull over, so say so.

Arriving
Essaouira is a walled town and vehicles cannot reach most medina addresses. There are several gates, and being dropped at the wrong one means walking through the souks with your cases. Tell us the riad name and the driver takes you to the correct gate for it, then walks you to the door or waits with you until the riad’s porter arrives. If you are on the beachfront, at the golf estate, in Diabat or out at Sidi Kaouki, those are all door drop-offs and worth mentioning at booking because they are separate approaches.

Paying, and the return leg
You pay at the end, cash in euros or dirham, or you paid online in advance. You do not need to have found an ATM to get out of the airport. If you booked the return at the same time, we confirm the pick-up by message the evening before, including the early ones. A 05:00 departure for a 07:00 flight is normal work for us, not a favour, and you can go to sleep knowing it is confirmed.
Agadir to Essaouira Transfer

When the other options are the better call
For two people travelling in daylight with normal bags, the coach up to Essaouira is a good, cheap, perfectly pleasant journey and we would not argue with it. Where we earn the difference is the argan country in between. A coach passes it; we can stop at a women's argan cooperative and at the coast on the way, at no extra charge, and still drop you at the medina gate closest to your riad, which matters in a walled town where cars cannot reach most front doors.
We would rather tell you that now than have you feel sold to afterwards.
