What actually happens when you land
Written out in order, because the part people worry about is not the drive.
- 01
Before you fly
You will have your driver's name and a WhatsApp thread with us. Nothing about the arrival is left to be worked out on the day, and the price you agreed is the price. If your children need seats, tell us their ages at booking and the right baby or booster seat is fitted in the car before you land, free.
- 02
Wheels down at Agadir Al Massira
We track your flight in real time. If you are two hours late, we already know, and we move the pick-up ourselves. A delay is our problem, not yours. Sixty minutes of free waiting is included from the moment you land, measured from the actual landing, not from the time on your ticket.
- 03
Passport control
This is usually the slowest part of arriving, and it is entirely outside anyone’s control. There is nothing to do here except join the queue. Your driver is not counting the minutes and there is nothing you need to send us.
- 04
Baggage reclaim
Collect everything, including oversized items. Boards, buggies, golf bags and cots all come off separately from the main belt, so it is worth a second look before you head for the exit.
- 05
Walking out into arrivals
Here is the bit everyone has read the forum threads about. You will walk out into a busy hall and several people will offer you a taxi. You do not need to talk to any of them, and you do not need to be rude about it either. Your driver is standing in that hall holding a printed board with your name on it. Look for the board, not for a person. If you cannot see it within a minute or two, stop walking, open WhatsApp and message us, and we will tell you exactly where he is standing. That is a normal message to send and we get them every week.
- 06
The car
Modern, air conditioned, clean, and it is yours alone. Nobody else is sharing it, and the driver is not picking anyone else up on the way. He takes the bags. Your children’s seats are already fitted. There is bottled water.
- 07
The drive
About 40 km from the airport, around 45 min. You cross Agadir, pass the port and Anza, and then follow the coast road north with the Atlantic on your left. Aourir comes a few minutes after Anza, where bananas are sold from stalls along the road. Surfboards travel at no surcharge; tell us how many at booking.
- 08
Arriving
Aourir runs straight into Tamraght along the coast road, and Tamraght belongs to the Aourir commune, so addresses often carry both names. Give us the property name, not only the village, and the driver takes you to that door. In Tamawanza and around Banana Point, where a lane is too narrow for the vehicle, the driver stops as close as it allows and walks you to the door.
- 09
Paying, and the return leg
You pay at the end, cash in euros or dirham, or you paid online in advance. You do not need to have found an ATM to get out of the airport. If you booked the return at the same time, we confirm the pick-up by message the evening before, including the early ones. A 05:00 departure for a 07:00 flight is normal work for us, not a favour, and you can go to sleep knowing it is confirmed.
Agadir to Aourir Transfer
A private transfer from Agadir Al Massira Airport to Aourir, the coastal town north of Agadir known as Banana Village, takes about 45 minutes for the 40 km. Surfers come for Banana Point, a right-hand point break at the village beach, and for the surf hostels a few minutes from the sand. Your driver meets you in arrivals and takes you to the door of your guesthouse, hostel or apartment, with surfboards carried at no surcharge.

Private transfer, grand taxi or bus
Three ways to do this journey, and the private transfer is not automatically the right one. Here is the honest comparison, including where the other two win.
| Private transfer (us) | Grand taxi from the airport | Alsa airport shuttle, then a coastal bus | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price basis | Per vehicle. One price covers the car and everyone in it, up to its capacity. Four people pay the same as one. | Per car if you take it privately, per seat if you share it and wait for it to fill. Which one you get depends on the conversation at the kerb. | Per person, every time. A family of five pays five fares. |
| Fixed price | Yes. From €30 for this route, agreed in writing before you travel. The number does not move for luggage, for a night arrival, or because you look like a tourist. | No. The fare is negotiated at the kerb before you get in, and it is on you to know what a fair number looks like. Agree it out loud, and agree whether it is for the car or per seat, before the boot opens. | Yes. Published fare, paid at the counter, no negotiation. This is the cheapest way to do this journey and we are not going to pretend otherwise. |
| Door to door | Yes. From Agadir Airport to the exact address you give us, including addresses that are a street name and a landmark rather than a number. | Usually yes, though the exact drop-off point can become part of the negotiation, and some drivers will stop short of narrow or unlit streets. | No. Station to station. You still have to solve the last leg from the terminal to your bed, with your bags, at whatever hour you arrive. |
| Journey time | 45 min for 40 km, direct, with a stop if you want one. | The same when you take the whole car. Longer if you share, because a shared grand taxi does not leave until every seat is sold. | Longer. Scheduled departure times, scheduled stops, and the wait at each end. |
| Night availability | Any hour, including pre-dawn departures, because it is booked in advance and the driver is already assigned to you. | Usually available at the rank, though supply thins out very late, and late at night is exactly when your negotiating position is at its worst. | The Alsa airport shuttle runs from the terminal to central Agadir. From the city, Alsa buses run north on the coast road through Aourir towards Taghazout and Tamri, so the trip is two buses and a change in town, with a walk from the roadside stop. |
| Luggage and surfboards | Included in the price. Capacity for passengers and bags is published on every vehicle row further up this page, so you can match your group before you book. Surfboards and board bags are carried. Tell us how many at booking and we will send the right vehicle. Pushchairs, travel cots and golf bags the same. | Depends entirely on the car that turns up and the driver's willingness. Oversized items are often a separate negotiation, and a board bag can be a flat refusal. | Hold space is limited and oversized items are at the operator's discretion. Boards are the item most likely to be turned away. |
| Flight tracking | Yes, in real time, on every airport pick-up. If your flight is late we move the pick-up, you do not. Sixty minutes of free waiting is included from the moment you land. | No. There is no booking to track. You find a car when you walk out, whenever that is. | No. The timetable does not know your flight is late. A missed departure is a wait for the next one. |
| Child seats | Baby and booster seats are free. Tell us your children's ages when you book and the right seat is fitted in the car before you land, not handed to you in the car park. | Grand taxis do not carry child seats, and you cannot rely on finding one that does. | None, and no way to fit your own. |
| Payment | Cash to the driver in euros or dirham, or card online in advance. You do not need to have found an ATM first. | Cash, in dirham, and you will need it in hand before you get in. Dirham is generally not obtainable outside Morocco. | Cash in dirham at the counter. |
When the other options are the better call
Aourir is on the bus routes up the coast, so a traveller with light bags who lands in daylight can reach it cheaply, and that is a fair choice. A grand taxi from the airport is the other common option. A private transfer makes more sense when several of you are travelling, because the price is per vehicle and not per person, when you are carrying boards, and when your address is a house in Tamawanza or near Banana Point rather than a stop on the main road. The price is also fixed before you fly, so there is nothing to agree at the taxi rank after landing.
We would rather tell you that now than have you feel sold to afterwards.
The Luxe Standard
Every transfer includes our curated selection of premium amenities and safety protocols, ensuring your journey from Agadir Airport is as seamless as the destination.
Hotels and areas we cover in Aourir, the Banana Village
Fixed price, whichever of these you are going to. We price by area, not by property, so a hotel that is not named here is still covered at the same €30 for this route, and the driver still takes you to its door.
Aourir town on the coast road
The town centre sits on the coast road, with banana stalls by the roadside and a weekly souk on Wednesdays. Drop-offs on the main road and the streets just off it are simple door-to-door stops.
the banana stalls along the coast road · the Wednesday souk
Tamawanza, towards the beach
The quarter at the Agadir end of Aourir, a few minutes' walk from the beach, where several surf hostels are. Addresses here are often only a quarter name, such as Hay Tamawanza or Route vers Tamawanza, so send us the property name and the driver goes to the door.
Agadir Funky Chill Surf & Music Hostel · SeArt Surf Camp · Aourir Waves
Banana Point and the village beach
The right-hand point break that gives the beach its name, with guesthouses and apartments a few minutes' walk away and a strip of restaurants a short walk from the beach that fills with families at weekends. Many apartments here are listed under a description rather than an address, so send us the building name or a location pin.
Banana Point · the guesthouses and apartments around the point
Inland towards Paradise Valley
The road to Paradise Valley leaves the coast at Aourir. If you are staying up that road rather than in Aourir itself, it is a different journey, with its own fixed price quoted instantly on our booking page.
Not on the list? That is normal, there are hundreds of properties in Aourir and this is not all of them. Send us the name, or a screenshot of your booking confirmation, on WhatsApp and we will confirm the price for your exact address before you pay anything. Apartments, villas and rentals with no formal address are routine work for us: a street name and a landmark is enough.
