Agadir Airport to Taghazout: Transfer Guide for Surfers & Beach Lovers

A private transfer from Agadir Al Massira Airport (AGA) to Taghazout is from €40 per vehicle with Just Luxury Transfers, and the drive takes around 40 minutes, longer if you hit Agadir traffic. Every price here is per vehicle unless we say otherwise, and every figure comes from our own published rates rather than from an aggregator's estimate.

The short answer: what it costs and how long it takes

A private transfer from Agadir Al Massira Airport to Taghazout starts at €40. That is the price of the car, not the price of a seat. It does not change if the flight lands late, if you have four bags instead of two, or if you are carrying boards.

The drive is around 40 minutes in normal conditions. It is not a motorway hop: you leave the airport south of the city, cross Agadir, then run north along the coast road. In July and August, or on a Friday afternoon, plan for closer to an hour and you will not be disappointed.

Per vehicle, not per person, and what that does to the maths

This is the single most misread line on every transfer site in Morocco, so here it is without ambiguity. Our transfer prices are per vehicle. Book the €40 sedan and three of you travel for €40 in total, not €40 each. Nobody is counted at the kerb and no per bag surcharge appears when the boot opens.

Excursions work the other way round: those are priced per person, which is why the day trips on our excursions pages carry a much smaller number. Two different pricing models on one site confuses people, so it is worth saying plainly which is which.

Here is the arithmetic on our own numbers, so you can compare it against a per head shuttle without taking anyone's word for it.

Which vehicle you actually need

Most people book by seats and then discover the problem is luggage. A Skoda Superb takes three passengers, but two large cases. Three of you with three big cases is already a Kodiaq, not a Superb. The bag counts in the table above are the honest ones, not the optimistic ones.

A few rules of thumb that save the most trouble. A family of four with a pushchair is realistically a van rather than an SUV, because the pushchair eats a large bag slot. A group of eight with eight cases wants the minivan and not two sedans, both because you arrive together and because one driver is accountable for the whole booking. And anyone travelling with boards should read the next section before choosing.

Surfboards: yes, and how to make it certain in writing

Boards travel free. There is no board surcharge, and the price you were quoted is the price whether you turn up with a fun board or a full quiver. A wet, sandy board bag at the end of the week is expected rather than a problem.

What matters is picking a vehicle that fits them, and that depends on how many bags you have and how long they are. Rather than publish a number that might be wrong for your kit, send us a message with the number of board bags and the longest length before you book, and we will tell you which class you need and confirm it in writing. That confirmation is the thing to keep: it is what stops any conversation at the kerb.

The reason this matters for Taghazout specifically is that the corridor is where board bags get refused. You have already paid an airline to carry them across Europe. You should not be paying again, or standing outside arrivals watching a driver shake his head at your bag.

Taghazout, Taghazout Bay, Tamraght, Aourir: which one is yours

To an outsider these blur into one place. They do not blur to a driver, and booking the wrong one is how people end up walking the last kilometre in the dark. Aourir (also called Banana Village) comes first as you head north, then Tamraght, then Taghazout Bay with the resorts and the golf, then Taghazout village itself.

Anza sits closer to Agadir, and Imsouane is a long way further north, so those two are not the same journey and should not be assumed to be the same price. Ask us and we will quote them properly rather than surprise you.

One practical note on addresses. Plenty of apartments in Tamraght and Taghazout have no address worth the name, just a street and a landmark. Send us a pinned location, a photo of the door, or your host's phone number when you book, and the driver will have it before he leaves. That is a normal request here, not an awkward one.

Landing late: what the last hour actually looks like

A large share of the flights into Agadir from northern Europe land in the evening, and delays push some of them past midnight. This is the part of the journey people worry about most, so here it is in sequence.

You land, you clear passport control, which can be slow when two flights arrive together, and you collect your bags. You then walk out into the arrivals hall, where drivers wait behind a barrier. Ours is inside the building holding a board with your name on it, not outside in the car park and not in the taxi queue. If you cannot see him, you call or message the number on your confirmation and stay where you are rather than walking outside.

We track the flight in real time, so if you land two hours late we already know and the pick-up moves with it. Sixty minutes of free waiting runs from the moment you land, not from the time you were scheduled to land. If something goes badly wrong beyond that, a lost bag or a long queue at the desk, message us and we will agree what happens rather than making a decision for you while you are stuck at the carousel.

Money: euros, dirhams, and when it changes hands

The dirham is a closed currency, which in practice means you cannot buy any before you fly. Landing with no local cash is normal and it is not a problem for your transfer.

You can pay the driver in cash on the day, in euros or dirhams, or pay by card online in advance. Whichever you choose, you pay once. If you have paid online, nothing is due to the driver, and any suggestion otherwise is not how we work.

Tipping is not built into the price and it is not expected. If your driver carried three cases and a board bag up a set of steps at midnight and you want to hand him something, that is entirely yours to decide.

Change money when it suits you rather than in the first tired ten minutes. You will want dirhams for cafés, taxis inside the village and the souk, and for excursions, which are cash first.

Travelling with children on this road

Grand taxis do not carry child seats, and this is a 40 minute drive that includes a stretch of open coast road, so it is not a journey to do with a toddler on a lap.

Baby and booster seats are free on request. Tell us the ages of your children when you book, not when the car arrives, and the right seat is fitted in the vehicle before you land. If you need an infant seat rather than a booster, say so explicitly, because they are different things and we would rather over confirm than guess.

On space: five people plus a pushchair and a travel cot is a van, not an SUV. The seats are free, but the seat and the cot both take room, so factor them into the class you pick.

And yes, a fitted child seat and board bags go in the same vehicle. Surfing parents are a bigger share of the Taghazout corridor than anyone writes about, and you should not have to choose between a safe car and a car that takes your boards.

The 05:00 return leg, which is where most trips go wrong

Early flights out of Agadir mean pre dawn pick-ups from a village where very little is moving. This is the leg people forget to book, and it is the one with no fallback if it fails.

Early departures are normal work for us rather than a favour. Book the return at the same time as the arrival and we will confirm the pick-up by message the evening before, so you can actually sleep instead of lying awake wondering whether a car is coming.

Allow properly for the drive back. It is the same road, quieter at 05:00, but you still want to be at the terminal in good time rather than counting on an empty run. Tell us your flight number for the return as well as the arrival, and we will work the pick-up time back from it.

Booked transfer or the taxi rank: the honest comparison

A pre booked private car is not the right answer for everyone, every time, and pretending otherwise would be a sales pitch rather than a guide.

The taxi rank at the airport works on a price you agree at the kerb. We are not going to print a figure for it, because the numbers travellers report vary widely and we have no way to verify what you would be quoted on the night. That variability is the point: you are negotiating, in a queue, after a flight.

A taxi is a perfectly sensible choice if you are travelling light, arriving in daylight, comfortable agreeing a price before you get in, and confident about which village you are going to. A booked transfer earns its money in the opposite conditions: a late landing, children, board bags, a group, a villa with a vague address, or simply not wanting the negotiation to be the first thing that happens to you in Morocco.

The other thing you are buying is accountability. There is one named business behind the booking, with 191 Google reviews at 5.0, rather than a marketplace that subcontracts your ride to a supplier you never speak to and cannot reach at midnight.

How to book it, and what we need from you

Booking takes about two minutes, and you can do the whole thing on WhatsApp if you would rather talk to a person before paying anything. Plenty of people do, particularly surfers and group organisers, and it is the normal way to ask a question rather than a last resort.

To confirm a transfer we need your flight number and landing date, the number of passengers, the number of large bags, the exact village and accommodation name, the ages of any children who need seats, and the number of board bags if you are carrying them. Give us the return leg at the same time if you know it, because it is cheaper on your attention and it means the 05:00 problem is already solved.

Once that is confirmed you have a fixed price in writing, a car sized to your kit, a driver waiting inside arrivals with your name, and nothing left to decide when you land. That is the entire product.
