What actually happens when you land
Written out in order, because the part people worry about is not the drive.
- 01
Before you fly
You will have your driver's name and a WhatsApp thread with us. Nothing about the arrival is left to be worked out on the day, and the price you agreed is the price. If your children need seats, tell us their ages at booking and the right baby or booster seat is fitted in the car before you land, free.
- 02
Wheels down at Agadir Al Massira
We track your flight in real time. If you are two hours late, we already know, and we move the pick-up ourselves. A delay is our problem, not yours. Sixty minutes of free waiting is included from the moment you land, measured from the actual landing, not from the time on your ticket.
- 03
Passport control
This is usually the slowest part of arriving, and it is entirely outside anyone’s control. There is nothing to do here except join the queue. Your driver is not counting the minutes and there is nothing you need to send us.
- 04
Baggage reclaim
Collect everything, including oversized items. Boards, buggies, golf bags and cots all come off separately from the main belt, so it is worth a second look before you head for the exit.
- 05
Walking out into arrivals
Here is the bit everyone has read the forum threads about. You will walk out into a busy hall and several people will offer you a taxi. You do not need to talk to any of them, and you do not need to be rude about it either. Your driver is standing in that hall holding a printed board with your name on it. Look for the board, not for a person. If you cannot see it within a minute or two, stop walking, open WhatsApp and message us, and we will tell you exactly where he is standing. That is a normal message to send and we get them every week.
- 06
The car
Modern, air conditioned, clean, and it is yours alone. Nobody else is sharing it, and the driver is not picking anyone else up on the way. He takes the bags. Your children’s seats are already fitted. There is bottled water.
- 07
The drive
About 120 km from the airport, around 2h 15min. Most of the way is the coast road north from Agadir, past Aourir, Tamraght, Taghazout and Imi Ouaddar to Tamri, known for its bananas, with the Timlalin dunes just beyond. After that the road winds through the hills for a long stretch, and the final part is a narrow road down to the village. It is a scenic drive but not a quick one, and it is the honest reason this route costs more than the villages closer to Agadir. Surfboards travel at no surcharge; tell us how many at booking.
- 08
Arriving
Imsouane is a small village with two ends: the harbour and the Bay on one side, Cathedral on the other, with the Amadel streets just back from the Bay and a campsite above. Several places to stay changed after the January 2024 demolitions, so send us the property name and its current address or a location pin, and the driver takes you to that door. Where a lane is too narrow for the vehicle, the driver stops as close as it allows and walks you the last few metres.
- 09
Paying, and the return leg
You pay at the end, cash in euros or dirham, or you paid online in advance. You do not need to have found an ATM to get out of the airport. If you booked the return at the same time, we confirm the pick-up by message the evening before, including the early ones. A 05:00 departure for a 07:00 flight is normal work for us, not a favour, and you can go to sleep knowing it is confirmed.
Agadir to Imsouane Transfer
A private transfer from Agadir Al Massira Airport to Imsouane covers about 120 km in around 2 hours 15 minutes. It is a long drive: the coast road north past Taghazout and Tamri, then a winding section through the hills and a narrow road down to the village. Surfers come for the Bay, one of the longest rides in Africa, and your driver brings you and your boards to the door of your surf house or camp.

Private transfer, grand taxi or bus
Three ways to do this journey, and the private transfer is not automatically the right one. Here is the honest comparison, including where the other two win.
| Private transfer (us) | Long-distance grand taxi | Alsa bus to Tamri, then a shared grand taxi | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price basis | Per vehicle. One price covers the car and everyone in it, up to its capacity. Four people pay the same as one. | Per car if you take it privately, per seat if you share it and wait for it to fill. Which one you get depends on the conversation at the kerb. | Per person, every time. A family of five pays five fares. |
| Fixed price | Yes. From €90 for this route, agreed in writing before you travel. The number does not move for luggage, for a night arrival, or because you look like a tourist. | No. The fare is negotiated at the kerb before you get in, and it is on you to know what a fair number looks like. Agree it out loud, and agree whether it is for the car or per seat, before the boot opens. | Yes. Published fare, paid at the counter, no negotiation. This is the cheapest way to do this journey and we are not going to pretend otherwise. |
| Door to door | Yes. From Agadir Airport to the exact address you give us, including addresses that are a street name and a landmark rather than a number. | Usually yes, though the exact drop-off point can become part of the negotiation, and some drivers will stop short of narrow or unlit streets. | No. Station to station. You still have to solve the last leg from the terminal to your bed, with your bags, at whatever hour you arrive. |
| Journey time | 2h 15min for 120 km, direct, with a stop if you want one. | The same when you take the whole car. Longer if you share, because a shared grand taxi does not leave until every seat is sold. | Longer. Scheduled departure times, scheduled stops, and the wait at each end. |
| Night availability | Any hour, including pre-dawn departures, because it is booked in advance and the driver is already assigned to you. | Usually available at the rank, though supply thins out very late, and late at night is exactly when your negotiating position is at its worst. | There is no direct public bus: from the airport you take the Alsa shuttle into Agadir, then either a shared grand taxi to Imsouane or an Alsa coastal bus to Tamri and a shared grand taxi on from there. Shared taxis leave when full, so it is a long chain of changes with bags. |
| Luggage and surfboards | Included in the price. Capacity for passengers and bags is published on every vehicle row further up this page, so you can match your group before you book. Surfboards and board bags are carried. Tell us how many at booking and we will send the right vehicle. Pushchairs, travel cots and golf bags the same. | Depends entirely on the car that turns up and the driver's willingness. Oversized items are often a separate negotiation, and a board bag can be a flat refusal. | Hold space is limited and oversized items are at the operator's discretion. Boards are the item most likely to be turned away. |
| Flight tracking | Yes, in real time, on every airport pick-up. If your flight is late we move the pick-up, you do not. Sixty minutes of free waiting is included from the moment you land. | No. There is no booking to track. You find a car when you walk out, whenever that is. | No. The timetable does not know your flight is late. A missed departure is a wait for the next one. |
| Child seats | Baby and booster seats are free. Tell us your children's ages when you book and the right seat is fitted in the car before you land, not handed to you in the car park. | Grand taxis do not carry child seats, and you cannot rely on finding one that does. | None, and no way to fit your own. |
| Payment | Cash to the driver in euros or dirham, or card online in advance. You do not need to have found an ATM first. | Cash, in dirham, and you will need it in hand before you get in. Dirham is generally not obtainable outside Morocco. | Cash in dirham at the counter. |
When the other options are the better call
If you are travelling alone with a rucksack and time to spare, the bus to Tamri and a shared taxi on to Imsouane cost much less, and it is a perfectly workable way to arrive. The case for a private car grows with the distance: about 120 km, one or two changes and a winding last stretch are a lot after a flight, especially with boards. Because the price is per vehicle, four friends in an SUV or a van of surfers share one fixed fare, and the driver takes you down into the village to your door. If you land in the evening, there is also no waiting for a shared taxi to fill.
We would rather tell you that now than have you feel sold to afterwards.
The Luxe Standard
Every transfer includes our curated selection of premium amenities and safety protocols, ensuring your journey from Agadir Airport is as seamless as the destination.
Hotels and areas we cover in Imsouane
Fixed price, whichever of these you are going to. We price by area, not by property, so a hotel that is not named here is still covered at the same €90 for this route, and the driver still takes you to its door.
The harbour and the Bay
The old fishing village around the harbour, beside the long sandy Bay where the main wave breaks. Fishing boats still land their catch here every day, and the surf houses around the Bay are a short walk from the water.
Imsouane harbour and its fish market · the surf houses around the Bay
Amadel
The streets just back from the Bay, where many surf houses and guesthouses are, a few minutes' walk from the beach and the harbour. Addresses here are lot numbers, such as Lot Amadel 445, so send the lot number with the property name.
Afer Surf Hostel · Olo Surf & Nature
Cathedral
The beach at the other end of the village, more exposed to the open ocean. Most of the January 2024 demolitions were on this side, so fewer places to stay remain here than before; check that your booking is current.
Up by the campsite
The area around the village campsite, above the village and about a fifteen-minute walk from the beach and the harbour. Send us the property name and the driver goes to the gate.
Dreamsea Surf Camp Imsouane
Not on the list? That is normal, there are hundreds of properties in Imsouane and this is not all of them. Send us the name, or a screenshot of your booking confirmation, on WhatsApp and we will confirm the price for your exact address before you pay anything. Apartments, villas and rentals with no formal address are routine work for us: a street name and a landmark is enough.
