Agadir Airport to Taroudant: Transfer Guide, Prices and What to Expect

The private transfer from Agadir Airport to Taroudant is 80 km and takes around 1h 10min through the flat Souss valley. Prices are fixed per vehicle, from €90 for a sedan to €160 for an 18-seat minibus, and include a name board in arrivals, flight tracking, 60 minutes of free waiting and free child seats.

Taroudant is the walled market town of the Souss valley, the one guidebooks call 'little Marrakech' because it has the ramparts, the souks and the riads without the crowds. It is also one of the easiest places to reach from Agadir Al Massira airport: 80 km inland on a flat valley road, around 1h 10min from the terminal to your door. If you have booked a riad inside the walls, or a guesthouse out in the valley, the only square left on the board is how you get from the arrivals hall to that door.

This guide is our honest answer. We drive the Agadir Airport to Taroudant transfer ourselves, so we know what the road is like, what arriving inside the ramparts after dark actually involves, and when the cheaper options are perfectly fine. Every price below is per vehicle, fixed before you travel, and the same on the route page as in the booking form.

Who goes to Taroudant, and why the transfer is the easy part

Three kinds of traveller book this transfer with us, and they want slightly different things from it.

What they have in common is that the destination, not the road, is the hard part. The drive is short and simple. The moment that goes wrong is arriving in an unfamiliar walled town at night, with bags, holding an address that is a riad name rather than a street number. That is the moment a fixed price and a driver who knows the town earn their keep.

• Couples staying in a riad inside the ramparts. The riads are the reason most people come, and their worry is the arrival: the streets inside the walls are narrow and mostly unlit after dark, and they want to be taken to the door rather than left at a gate with the cases.
• Riders, hikers and cyclists heading for the Anti-Atlas. Taroudant is the natural base before going further into the valley, and these travellers usually carry more luggage than a sedan will take, on a fixed date that a shared taxi cannot promise.
• People who want the walled-city experience without the Marrakech crowds. Taroudant gives you the ramparts, the souks and the slow evenings with far fewer tourists, and it is close enough to Agadir that a short holiday does not lose a day getting there.

The three ways to get from the airport to Taroudant

There are three realistic ways to do this journey, and we are not going to pretend the private car is always the right one.

The private transfer is the one we sell: a driver waiting in the arrivals hall with your name on a board, one vehicle that is yours alone, a fixed price agreed before you fly, and a drop-off at your door where the street allows it. It costs more than the alternatives, and what you are paying for is the removal of every decision between the terminal and the riad.

The shared long-distance grand taxi is how most people who live here travel between Agadir and Taroudant. Cars leave when every seat is sold, and you agree the fare at the kerb, for a seat or for the whole car. We do not print a fare because it moves and you will be quoted something different anyway. You will usually need to get from the airport to the rank the Taroudant cars leave from first, a second journey with your bags before the first one starts.

The coach is the third option. CTM and Supratours both operate from Agadir and run scheduled departures into Taroudant town, comfortable, air conditioned and cheap. It is station to station, though: airport to coach station in Agadir is one leg, the coach is another, and the coach station in Taroudant to your riad is a third, with your bags, at whatever hour the timetable delivers you. What the private transfer costs, per vehicle

Every price is per vehicle, not per person, so the number below is what the whole car costs however many of you are in it, up to its capacity. There is no night surcharge and no luggage surcharge.

In practice: a couple with two cases takes the sedan at €90. Four people with three cases fit the SUV at €100; with four cases, or a pushchair and a travel cot on top, you need the van at €110. Six people with six cases is the minivan at €120. Eight people with a case each is the minibus at €160, because the van takes four large bags and the minivan six. The route page prices this journey one way. There is no packaged round-trip price on the Taroudant route, so if you want us to bring you back to the airport at the end of your stay, tell us when you book and we will quote the return leg separately, fixed in advance like everything else, and confirm the pick-up by message the evening before you fly.

The road through the Souss valley

This is the least demanding of our intercity routes. From the airport the road runs inland along the Souss valley: 80 km, around 1h 10min, flat and straightforward the whole way. The High Atlas rises on one side and the Anti-Atlas on the other, with orange groves and argan trees on the valley floor between them. There are no mountain passes on this leg, which is why it suits an evening arrival far better than our longer routes do.

If you want to stop on the way, say so at the start rather than halfway. A supermarket or a pharmacy on the way out of Agadir is the most common request; it costs nothing, and it saves you hunting for one inside the ramparts on your first evening.

The car is yours alone. Nobody else is picked up on the way, the driver takes the bags, the child seats are already fitted, and there is water. It is a short enough drive that most people arrive still awake, which after an early start and a flight is worth something.

Arriving inside the ramparts after dark

This is the part of the journey people underestimate, and the reason most of them book a private car rather than a shared one. Taroudant's old town sits inside its ramparts, and the streets in there are narrow, some barely wider than the car, and mostly unlit after dark. A riad address is usually a name and a neighbourhood rather than a street number. Arriving by coach or shared taxi means being dropped at a station or a gate and solving the last stretch yourself, in the dark, with cases.

Where the street physically allows it, we take you to the door, not to the nearest gate. Our drivers know the town, so a riad near the Arab souk or the Great Mosque is a known address, not a search. Where the last stretch is genuinely too narrow for a car, we stop as close as the street allows, and it is worth sending us the riad's name when you book so the driver already knows which lane it is on before you land. Palais Salam Taroudant, built into the ramparts themselves, and Palais Oumensour are both inside the walls. One practical tip: message your riad with your flight time before you travel. Riads inside the walls are used to guests arriving by car and will often send someone to meet you if they know when to expect you. Combining Taroudant with Tiout or the Anti-Atlas

Taroudant is a base as much as a destination. The oasis at Tiout, with its kasbah above the palm grove, is the classic day out from the town, and further into the valley the road climbs towards the Anti-Atlas, where the riders and hikers are heading. We do not print distances for those because they depend on exactly where you are going, and 'near Taroudant' covers a lot of ground.

There are two ways we can help. Taroudant as a stop on the way to Marrakech

A lot of people put Taroudant and Marrakech in the same trip, and the order matters more than they expect. The direct Agadir Airport to Marrakech transfer is 245 km and around 2h 45min, which is a long day on top of a flight. Taroudant, at 80 km and 1h 10min from the airport, is the natural first stop: an easy drive to a quiet walled town, a night or two inside the ramparts, and then on to Marrakech rested rather than straight off the plane.

It is a fixed price per vehicle, quoted instantly when you book online, and it is worth telling us whether you want the quicker road back through the valley to the motorway or the mountain road over the High Atlas, because they are very different days and only one of them is a good idea after dark.

If Marrakech is the main event and Taroudant is the curiosity, the honest advice runs the other way: take the direct Agadir Airport to Marrakech transfer and see Taroudant later on a day trip. If Taroudant is what you came for, do it first while you are fresh and let Marrakech be the finale.

When the shared taxi is fine

We would rather say this now than have you feel sold to afterwards. Taroudant is close enough to Agadir that shared long-distance taxis run it routinely, and if you are travelling solo or as a couple, landing in daylight, carrying a rucksack rather than cases, and genuinely relaxed about what time you arrive, the shared taxi is a reasonable way to travel and costs a fraction of what we charge. Plenty of people do it without incident.

The case for booking us is specific rather than general. Book the private car if you land in the evening, because the shared cars thin out and the walk to a riad inside the walls is not something to do in the dark with bags. Book it if you are a group, because the price is per vehicle and the arithmetic flips quickly. Book it if you have children, because grand taxis do not carry child seats and ours are free.
