Private driver in Morocco: about US$150 to $300 a day on public listings, fixed fares from €130 Agadir to Marrakech, tipping and what to ask first.
A private driver in Morocco costs about US$150 to $300 per day on public listings from Moroccan operators, depending on the vehicle and itinerary, and about €180 to €300 or more per day on multi-day tours. Just Luxury Transfers, based in Agadir, publishes fixed per-vehicle route fares, from €130 for a sedan to Marrakech, and quotes days on request.
Search for a private driver in Morocco and you find two kinds of price: a fixed fare for a single journey, and a day rate for a car and driver at your disposal. They answer different questions, and mixing them up is how people decide they were overcharged or undercharged. This guide gives the market range for day hire, the fixed fares we can publish as a benchmark, what to ask any operator before you pay, and what to tip.
We are Just Luxury Transfers, a private transfer and excursion operator based in Agadir, the operator and not a reseller. We quote days on request instead of publishing a day price, and we explain why below. Third-party figures here are public listings at the time of writing, so check them before you travel.
How much does a private driver cost in Morocco per day?
At the time of writing, public listings from Moroccan operators show about US$150 to $300 per day for a car and driver, depending on the vehicle and the itinerary. Multi-day tours with a driver are listed at about €180 to €300 or more per day. Treat those as a range to check a quote against, not as a tariff: nobody sets one, and figures differ by operator and by trip.
What moves a day price inside that range is mostly the same few things: the size of the vehicle, the distance and the roads, the number of days, and what is bundled in. A sedan on the coast road and a van across the High Atlas are not the same day. The last item, what is bundled in, is where quotes that look alike turn out to differ, so the questions section further down matters more than the headline number.
Multi-day rates raise the question of what is included beyond driving. A driver's meals and lodging on a multi-day trip are a cost somebody pays, and whether it sits inside the price or on top of it is a question to ask every operator.
Fixed route prices: the benchmark we can publish
A day rate pays for time. A transfer pays for a journey, and it is the part of private driving where a price can be published and checked. Ours are fixed per vehicle, not per person, agreed before you travel, with no surcharge for night arrivals, luggage or surfboards. For a one-way journey with no stops, the fixed fare is the simpler thing to compare, and a day rate only earns its keep once you want stops, waiting or several days.
One way, per vehicle, on routes we run from Agadir and Marrakech:
Agadir to Marrakech and to Essaouira, and Marrakech to Essaouira, cost the same in either direction. Beyond the table, Marrakech to Casablanca is €140 for a sedan, Agadir to Casablanca is 470 km and about 5h 30min from €250, and Agadir to Rabat is 550 km and about 6h 15min from €280. Every fare is on our prices page.
The cost per head falls as the group grows: four people in the SUV share €150 to Marrakech, and seven in the van share €170. These are our fares, not a market average. Use them to check a quote for the same route, remembering that the vehicle, the hours and what is included may differ.
| Route | Distance and time | Sedan | SUV | Van |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Agadir city or airport to Marrakech | 245 km, 2h 45min | €130 | €150 | €170 |
| Agadir city or airport to Essaouira | 175 km, 2h 15min | €130 | €150 | €180 |
| Marrakech to Essaouira | 185 km, 2h 45min | €120 | €130 | €150 |
| Agadir to Ouarzazate | 315 km, 5h 40min | €300 | €350 | €400 |
What to ask any private driver in Morocco before you pay
These questions explain most of the gap between two quotes that look similar. Put every one of them to us as well, and to anyone else you are comparing. A good operator answers all of them in one message, and a vague answer is information too.
- Is the price per vehicle or per person? Ours is per vehicle, so it does not change with the number of passengers.
- Is fuel included? On our day hire, fuel and tolls are included.
- How many hours is a day, and what happens after? A full day with us is roughly 8 to 10 hours and a half day about 4. Agree the finish time and what happens after it before you go.
- On a multi-day trip, who pays for the driver's meals and lodging? Ask every operator, us included, and get the answer in the written quote.
- Is the price fixed before you travel, in which currency, and how do you pay? Ours is fixed in euros, with no meter, by card online, a 30% deposit online with the balance to the driver, or cash to the driver in euros or dirham. A card fee applies to the online part.
- What is the cancellation rule? With us it is free up to 24 hours before pick-up.
- Which languages does the driver speak? Ours speak English and French, several also Spanish and German.
- Does the vehicle fit your luggage? Ask for large-bag capacity, not just seats. Our sedan takes 2 large bags, the SUV 3, the van 4 and the minivan 6.
How much should you tip a private driver in Morocco?
Guidance varies, and tipping is appreciated but not mandatory. A figure often quoted is 100 to 200 MAD per day for a small group. Treat it as a range and not a rule, and tip according to how the day went.
Small dirham notes are the practical way to do it, and dirham is a closed currency that you generally cannot buy before you fly, so plan to change a little on arrival. On a fixed fare, the tip is a separate decision made at the end of the journey, not something to negotiate at the start.
Is a private driver in Morocco worth it?
Sometimes yes, and sometimes the coach or a rental car is the better choice. We would rather say which.
Alone or as a couple, going point to point on a day that can absorb a fixed departure time, the coach is much cheaper. CTM and Supratours run coaches between the main cities, and Marrakech to Agadir takes around 3h to 3h 30min station to station for roughly MAD 100 to 160, from older sources, so check before you travel. The coach does not come to your door, and at the far end you still need a way from the station to your bed.
A rental car is the other honest alternative if you are comfortable driving on Moroccan roads. Add the rental, fuel, tolls, insurance and parking and the gap with a driver narrows. If you have already rented, a driver for your own car is a separate service that we quote on request.
A private driver earns its price in a few situations: a group of three or more sharing one vehicle price, luggage or surfboards that a coach hold or a taxi boot will not take, a trip with several stops where waiting time is the point, and a long road you would rather watch than drive. Baby and booster seats are free on request, which matters with children on a long journey.
Private driver in Marrakech, Agadir or elsewhere: where we fit
We are based in Agadir, and that shapes what we do well. From Agadir and its airport, and from Taghazout and Tamraght, we run published routes to Marrakech, Essaouira and Ouarzazate. If you search for a private driver in Marrakech you will mostly find operators based there. Ours are the routes in the table above, picked up in Marrakech and driven to Agadir or Essaouira, plus Marrakech to Casablanca.
For a multi-day driver that begins and ends in Marrakech, message us on WhatsApp and we say honestly whether we are the right people for it. If you are choosing a single route rather than a day, our Marrakech to Agadir transfer guide and Marrakech to Essaouira transfer guide go through the coach, the taxi and the private car in turn, and the best day trips from Agadir shows what a day with a driver can look like.
How a private driver in Agadir is quoted and booked
Our private driver in Agadir page covers four ways to hire: by the hour, a half day of about 4 hours, a full day of roughly 8 to 10 hours, and several days or VIP and business travel. There is no published day price, because a day to Taroudant and a day to Marrakech are different jobs. We quote each one on request on WhatsApp at +212 6 74 01 61 49, as one fixed price in euros agreed before you travel, with no meter.
Send the dates, the pick-up point, where you would like to go and how many of you there are. The fleet page lists the capacity of the sedan, SUV, van, minivan, minibus and VIP car. Every website booking gets a booking voucher by email, cancellation is free up to 24 hours before pick-up, and we are rated 5.0 on Google from 240 reviews.
If your route is on the prices page, use the fixed fare. If you want time rather than a journey, ask for a day.
