The most booked excursions from Agadir are Paradise Valley (from €25 per person), the Marrakech day trip (from €45), the desert safari and Essaouira day trip (both from €40), and the Agadir city tour (from €15), with the full range running from €15 to €70 per person. Paradise Valley is the best single choice for most visitors, but only after rain, because the pools run thin in a dry spell. Marrakech and Essaouira are genuine full days on the road, so on a stay of a week or less most people are better served by one long day and one short one rather than two long ones.

Agadir is a good base for day trips, which is exactly why the choice is confusing. Twenty different things are offered to you, mostly by people who will not tell you which ones are worth a whole day of a seven day holiday and which ones are a pleasant couple of hours you could take or leave. This guide is the version we would give a friend: every price we charge, what each trip actually costs you in time, and where we would put our own money if we only got to do two.

Every price below is our own published price, in euros, per person. That distinction matters and we will keep repeating it, because our transfer prices work the other way round. Transfers are priced per vehicle, so the number you see is the whole car whether one of you travels or seven. Excursions are priced per head. Mixing those two up is the most common misunderstanding we deal with on WhatsApp, and sorting it out before you book will save you either money or an argument.

We have written the uncomfortable parts in as well. Paradise Valley is thin in a dry spell. Marrakech eats an entire day and you will get back late. If either of those facts makes an excursion the wrong choice for you, we would rather you found that out here than at eight in the morning in a hotel car park.

What an excursion from Agadir actually costs, all twenty of them

Very few operators in Agadir publish the whole list in one place, which is why comparing is so tiring, so start here and then read the sections underneath for what the numbers do not tell you.

Read it with one thing in mind: a €15 city tour and a €70 buggy session are not competing for the same slot in your week. The city tour is an orientation you can do on your first afternoon while you are still tired. The buggy is a chunk of a day and a specific kind of fun. Sort the list by what it does to your schedule, not by what it costs.

The five most people book, and who each one honestly suits

Popularity is not the same as suitability. These are the five that fill up first, with the case for and against each one written plainly.

Paradise Valley, from €25 per person. A gorge in the High Atlas with natural rock pools, palms and cliffs above you. It is the trip most people picture when they picture Morocco outside a resort, and on a good day it earns that. See the seasonal warning in the next section before you book it, because the water is the whole point and the water is not guaranteed.

Marrakech day trip, from €45 per person. Our transfer page lists Agadir to Marrakech as 245 km and about 2h45 each way. That is the honest shape of the day and it does not get shorter because you would like it to. Read the comparison section below before committing a day of a short holiday to it.

Desert safari in the Mini Sahara, from €40 per person. A full day by 4x4 across dunes and past Berber villages. This is the trip that most reliably feels like you left the coast behind, and it suits people who are happy with a long day in a vehicle and are not chasing a specific photograph.

Essaouira day trip, from €40 per person. A walled medina and a working fishing port on the Atlantic, windier and cooler than Agadir. Choose it over Marrakech if you want a place you can walk around rather than a place you have to navigate.

Agadir city tour, from €15 per person. The cheapest thing on our list and, for a first time visitor, arguably the highest value per euro. Two or three hours of orientation on your first day makes every other decision that week easier, and it does not require you to be awake at six in the morning.

Paradise Valley, honestly

Paradise Valley depends entirely on rainfall. After good rain it is genuinely spectacular and people come back saying it was the best day of the trip. In a dry spell the pools shrink, some of them disappear, and you are looking at a beautiful rocky gorge with very little water in it. Recent visitor reviews say exactly this, in blunt language, and it would be dishonest of us to sell around it.

So here is our position. Message us on WhatsApp the week before you travel and we will tell you what the water is actually doing, based on what our drivers saw that week rather than on a photograph taken in a good year. If the answer is that it is dry, we will say so and suggest you spend the day somewhere else. That costs us a booking and it is still the right answer, because a €25 ticket is not worth a review that says we knew and did not tell you.

If you go and the water is good, it is an easy full day. If you go in the dry season anyway, go for the drive and the gorge rather than for swimming, and adjust what you expect before you get in the car.

Marrakech or Essaouira: the two long days, and how to choose

These are the two trips people agonise over, usually because they have worked out they only have room for one. The deciding factor is almost never the price, since they are €45 and €40 per person respectively. It is what kind of day you want to have.

Marrakech is the bigger city and the bigger day. Our transfer page lists the route as 245 km and about 2h45 each way, which means roughly five and a half hours in a vehicle before you have seen anything. You will leave early and you will get back in the evening. What you get for that is a city that genuinely justifies the reputation: the souks, the palaces, the square at dusk. What you do not get is a relaxed day, and if you are travelling with young children or anyone who does not enjoy long car journeys, this is the trip to skip.

Essaouira is smaller, calmer and walkable. The medina is compact enough that you are not constantly deciding what to miss, the port is a working one rather than a set piece, and the Atlantic wind means it is usually cooler than Agadir. It suits people who want to wander rather than to tick things off.

The third option nobody sells you is: do neither. If you have five nights, two half day trips and an evening will give you more of a holiday than one thirteen hour round trip. We would rather tell you that than take €90 from a couple who spend the whole of the next day recovering.

Separately, if Marrakech is where you are going next rather than somewhere you are visiting for the day, do not book the day trip at all. A one way private transfer is a different product at a different price, and it is priced per vehicle rather than per person, which changes the arithmetic completely for two or more people.

Half days and evenings, when you do not want to lose a whole day

Most guides to Agadir list only the big trips, which quietly assumes you are willing to write off a day at a time. Plenty of people are not, particularly on a short stay or with small children, so here is the shorter end of the list.

The boat trip, from €40 per person, gets you out on the Atlantic for part of a day without leaving the area. Quad biking at €40, sandboarding at €45 and the buggy at €70 are the active options, all of them a chunk of a day rather than all of it. The hammam and spa at €40 is the one people book on the day the weather turns, and it is the only thing on the list that is better in bad weather than in good.

For genuinely short outings, the souk visit and the medina visit are both €20 per person, camel riding is €20, horse riding on the shore is €30, and Crocoparc is €25 and reliably good with children. Color Village Timlalin at €30 combines a painted village with dunes and photographs better than most things at that price.

The Fantasia Berber night show at €60 per person is the evening option. It is the most theatrical thing we sell and people either love it or find it too staged, so book it if you like the sound of horsemen, fire and a feast, and skip it if that description already puts you off.

Excursions with children, and what actually works

Parents ask us two things: which trips a five year old will tolerate, and whether the car will have a proper seat in it. The second question is the easier one to answer. Baby and booster seats are free on request across our vehicles, and if you tell us your children's ages when you book, the right seat is fitted before we collect you. You do not carry it, you do not fit it, and you are not charged for it. Grand taxis in Agadir do not carry child seats at all, which is why this comes up.

On the trips themselves, be realistic about hours in a vehicle. Crocoparc at €25 per person is the one that works with almost any age. Camel riding at €20 and the beach horse riding at €30 are short, outdoors and end before anyone melts down. The boat trip at €40 works well for older children. The city tour at €15 is short enough to be a soft start on your first day.

The trips we would think twice about with a small child are the long road days: Marrakech, Essaouira, Legzira and Tiznit, and Taroudant and Tioute. They are all good trips and none of them is short. If you want to do one anyway, tell us the ages when you enquire and we will tell you honestly how the timings usually go with children in the car.

Groups of six or more: do the arithmetic before you book

This is where per person pricing starts to sting, and where a lot of group organisers get a nasty surprise at the end of a spreadsheet. Excursions are priced per head, so the number multiplies. Here is what that looks like in practice, using our own published from prices.

Nothing on this table is a trick, it is just multiplication, and it is exactly the multiplication people forget to do until they have already promised the family a day out.

If you are six or more, message us before you book anything with the group size, the ages, and how many vehicles you think you need. We do not publish a private vehicle price for day trips, so we will not pretend one exists on this page. What we will do is give you a straight number in writing before you commit, and if the honest answer is that the per person tickets work out better for your group, we will tell you that too.

One thing that does help a large group: our vehicles are published with real seat and luggage counts rather than the vague minibus label the booking sites use. Match your group to a vehicle before you plan the day and you avoid the classic problem of arriving to find two cars for eleven people.

The five questions to ask any Agadir operator before you pay

Not just us. These are the questions that separate a company that owns cars from a page that resells your booking to someone you will never speak to, and you should ask all five.

Ask them in writing, on WhatsApp or by email, and keep the reply. A company that answers all five in plain language before taking your money is very unlikely to be the one that leaves you standing in a car park.

• Is that price per person or per vehicle? Our excursions are per person and our transfers are per vehicle, and any operator should be able to say which without hesitating.
• Does it include hotel pick-up and drop-off, and from which hotels? Ours do, and if you are staying up the coast rather than in Agadir itself, say so when you enquire so we can confirm the timing.
• Are there any shopping or cooperative stops built into the day? Ask for a straight yes or no. A day that quietly includes two sales stops is a different day from the one you booked.
• How and when do I pay, and do I need dirhams? Our excursions are cash first, in euros or dirham to the driver, and our transfers can be paid by card online. You generally cannot buy dirhams before you fly, so knowing this in advance matters more than people expect.
• Who am I actually speaking to? Ask for a person and a number. Ours is a WhatsApp number that a human answers, and our Google profile carries 5.0 from 191 reviews attached to this business rather than averaged across a marketplace of subcontractors.

A sensible week, if you would rather we just laid it out

For a first visit of about a week, staying in or near Agadir, this is the shape we would suggest. Adjust it freely, it is a starting point rather than a rule.

Day one, arrive and do nothing. If you land early and have energy left, the city tour at €15 per person is the right size of ambition for a first afternoon and it makes the rest of the week easier to plan.

Day two, something short and outdoors. Camel riding at €20, horse riding at €30, or the souk at €20 if you would rather be in the middle of things. You are still adjusting and a full day would be wasted on you.

Day three, your one big trip. Paradise Valley at €25 if the water is good, the desert safari at €40 if it is not, Essaouira at €40 if you want a town rather than a landscape, Marrakech at €45 if you are certain you want the biggest day available.

Day four, recover. Beach, hotel, or the hammam at €40 if the weather is against you.

Day five, the second trip, and make it a half day. The boat trip at €40, quad biking at €40, Crocoparc at €25 with children, or Color Village Timlalin at €30.

Day six, an evening rather than a day. The Fantasia night show at €60 if it appeals.

Day seven, keep it clear. If you have an early flight the following morning, tell us the night before and we will confirm your pick-up by message so you can go to sleep without setting three alarms. Early departures are normal work for us rather than a favour.
