Marrakech airport to Taghazout is 255 km, about 3 hours. Private transfer from €150 per vehicle, with the coach and taxi route compared honestly.
Marrakech airport to Taghazout is about 255 km and 3 hours by road. A private transfer with Just Luxury Transfers costs from €150 for a sedan, €170 for an SUV or €200 for a minivan, per vehicle and not per person, the same in either direction, with surfboards carried at no extra charge.
The flight into Marrakech was the cheaper one, and now the surf house is in Taghazout, on the Atlantic coast north of Agadir. There is no passenger train on this corridor, and public transport is three legs rather than one: a taxi to the coach station, a CTM or Supratours coach to Agadir, and a second ride up the coast, because the coaches do not stop on the road to Taghazout. Marrakech airport is Menara, code RAK.
This guide sets out each way to do it, with the numbers we can stand behind and a clear label on the ones we cannot. We run the private option, so we have an interest. That is why we also say plainly when the coach is the better call, and when you would be better off flying into Agadir instead.
How do you get from Marrakech airport to Taghazout?
Marrakech to Taghazout is about 255 km, and a car takes about 3 hours. There are three realistic ways to cover it: public transport in three legs, a shared shuttle, or a private car booked in advance.
Public transport means a taxi from the airport to a coach station, a coach to Agadir, then a bus or a taxi up the coast. A shared shuttle is a seat in a minibus run by a surf-focused operator, which we do not run and will not describe beyond what we know. A private transfer is one vehicle, yours alone, from the arrivals hall at Marrakech airport to the door in Taghazout or Tamraght, at a price fixed before you travel.
The table puts the three side by side.
| Option | Best for | Where it falls short |
|---|---|---|
| Coach plus taxi or bus | One traveller on a tight budget, light luggage, a day with room to spare | Three legs and two changes, a board bag to carry through each one, and the coach ends in Agadir, not Taghazout |
| Shared shuttle | Solo surfers who are happy to fit around someone else's departure time | We cannot vouch for schedules, prices or stops, so ask before you rely on one |
| Private transfer | Two or more people, boards, a late landing, children, anyone who wants one ride | It costs more than the coach for one or two people |
Marrakech airport to Taghazout by coach: what the journey involves
The first leg is a taxi from the airport to the coach station of the operator you choose. CTM and Supratours both run coaches between Marrakech and Agadir, station to station. The coach itself takes around 3h to 3h 30min and costs roughly MAD 100 to 160, but those figures come from older sources, so check the current price and timetable with the operator before you plan around either.
Here is the catch for Taghazout. The coaches do not stop on the road to Taghazout. You get off in Agadir and make the last leg, about 23 km north, on your own. A taxi is one option. The other is the Alsa city buses 32 and 33, which serve Taghazout for about 5.50 to 7 MAD paid on board and take around 45 minutes. They board in the area north of Souk El Had, near the CTM station. We found no official 2026 timetable, so check alsa.ma or ask the driver, and read our Agadir to Taghazout bus and taxi guide for that last leg in detail.
Add it up: a taxi, a coach of 3 hours or more, and a bus or taxi of about 45 minutes, plus the waiting between them. That is comfortably more than the 3 hours a car takes, and every change is a place to stand with your bags. For one traveller with a backpack and a free day it is still the cheapest way to get there. For anyone carrying a board bag it is a long day.
Shared shuttles and taxis: what we can and cannot tell you
A shared shuttle runs on this road from surf-focused operators. We do not run one, and we are not going to name or rate them. If you are considering one, ask four things before you pay: the departure time against your landing time, how many pick-ups it makes before yours, whether boards are included, and what happens if your flight is late.
On taxis, we have no reliable fare for a taxi from Marrakech airport to Taghazout, and we would rather leave a gap than invent a number. If you go that way, agree the price and the destination before you get in, and settle whether the price covers the bags and the boards. A ride of 255 km is a long thing to negotiate at the kerb after a flight.
What a private transfer from Marrakech airport to Taghazout costs
Our prices are per vehicle, not per person, and fixed before you travel. The Marrakech to Taghazout route page and the Taghazout to Marrakech page show the same fares, because the price is the same in either direction and Marrakech airport counts as Marrakech. Tamraght is priced the same as Taghazout. There is no surcharge for night arrivals, luggage or surfboards.
Because the price is per vehicle, the cost per head falls as the group grows. Three people in the sedan pay €50 each, four in the SUV each pay a quarter of €170, and eight in the minivan each pay €25. A round trip is two times the one way fare. If your address is one of the Taghazout Bay resorts rather than the village, send us the name and we confirm the fare before you pay. The fleet page lists passengers and bags for every vehicle, and the prices page lists every fare we publish.
Marrakech airport to Taghazout or Tamraght, one way, per vehicle:
- Sedan, 1 to 3 passengers, 2 large bags: €150
- SUV, 1 to 4 passengers, 3 large bags: €170
- Van, 1 to 7 passengers, 4 large bags: €180
- Minivan, 1 to 8 passengers, 6 large bags: €200
- Minibus, up to 18 passengers with group luggage: €300
- VIP, 1 to 2 passengers, 2 large bags, premium: €350
When flying into Agadir is simply better
If your dates are open, check the Agadir flight before you book Marrakech. Agadir Airport to Taghazout is 50 km and about 55 minutes, from €40 for a sedan. From Marrakech it is 255 km and about 3 hours, from €150. The fare gap is €110 for a sedan, €130 for a van and €140 for a minivan, and the drive is about two hours longer each way. Our Agadir Airport to Taghazout guide covers that arrival step by step.
Do the sum for your group. For four people in the SUV, the gap between €170 and €45 works out at about 31 euros a head for each transfer, or about 62 euros a head for a round trip, so the Marrakech flight has to be cheaper than the Agadir one by more than that before it comes out ahead. If it is not, fly into Agadir and keep the money and the two hours.
Marrakech still makes sense in other cases. You may want a few days in the city first, the Marrakech flight times may suit you much better, or the price gap may be large enough to cover the transfer many times over. In those cases the 3 hours is part of the plan rather than a penalty.
How the pick-up works at Marrakech airport
Your driver follows your flight in real time and waits in the arrivals hall holding a board with your name. The 60 minutes of free waiting start from the actual landing, not the scheduled time, so a late flight does not shorten them and passport control is not a race. Landing at midnight costs the same as landing at noon.
Tell us how many board bags and large cases you are carrying when you book. A sedan takes 2 large bags, the SUV 3, the van 4 and the minivan 6, and boards are carried at no surcharge, but they take room that bags would use. Give us the number and the lengths and we will say which vehicle you need before you pay. Baby and booster seats are free on request, so give us the children's ages too.
Our drivers speak English and French, and several also speak Spanish and German. Every booking made on the website receives a booking voucher by email.
Paying, deposits and cancellation
You can pay by card online, pay a 30% deposit online and the balance to the driver, or pay cash to the driver in euros or dirham. A card fee of 3.9% plus 30 cents applies to whatever part you pay online, so a deposit with the balance in cash keeps the fee smaller. Dirham is a closed currency and you generally cannot buy it before you fly, which is why paying the driver in euros is practical.
Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before pick-up. If your flight dates might still move, book with the deposit and keep the details flexible until the day before.
Adding Essaouira to the trip
Essaouira is a separate road heading west from Marrakech, but it makes a good stop between the city and the surf coast. Marrakech to Essaouira is €120 for a sedan, and Taghazout or Tamraght to Essaouira is also €120, so the two legs at €120 each cost more than the €150 direct drive. A night in Essaouira splits the journey into two shorter drives. Our Marrakech to Essaouira transfer guide covers the first leg, and Marrakech to Essaouira has its own route page.
When the coach is the better choice
If you are one traveller with one bag and no board, travelling by day with a free afternoon, the coach plus a bus is the cheapest way to get there and the saving is real. Take it, check the timetable with the operator, and remember that the coach ends in Agadir, not Taghazout. A late landing is where it gets harder, because the last departure may already have gone, so check that before you rely on it.
The private car earns its price in the cases the coach handles worst: two or more people sharing one fare, boards, young children, a landing at night, or the first day of a holiday that you do not want to spend changing vehicles. We are the operator, based in Agadir, rated 5.0 on Google from 240 reviews. To book, use the website, or message +212 6 74 01 61 49 on WhatsApp with the date, the flight number and the address in Taghazout. If you would rather ask first, the contact page is the place to start.
